Spare Time Art

Week Off! Picture 5
I wanted to draw an elephant because people decorate them in circuses and for their religion. The rose head piece is in the perfect spot and makes the elephant look really elegant. It was fun experimenting with small and thick lines towards the pattern making. The overall outcome of this picture had came out average to me.
Week Off! Picture 4
I really enjoy drawing animals while developing my pattern work. I love how this picture has turned out. The coloured side of the picture makes me think that it could be turned into a colourful teddy bear where as the black and white side could be a tattoo design. My pattern art is getting better with each picture that I do and I am excited to look back on these pictures in a couple of months time to see my progress.
Week Off! Picture 3
I brought some new paint markers and thought that I could experiment them developing my pattern art. Doing this, I now know that I love the silver paint pen because it really stands out. Don't really like the gold pen because I had to go over the silver pen to make it stand out against the black paper. Overall, I think it was a fun activity to do.
Week Off! Picture 2
Since I really liked the watercolour background that I have done to my previous drawing, I wanted to try it out again. First of all, I wanted to make it look like it is raining by making drips of paint down the paper however, I thought it looks more better as a forest in the night. The outcome of this picture turned out unexpectedly good. I love how the acrylic gold border makes the picture background stand out as well as the elephant.
Week Off! Picture 1
We have now got a week off! Since it is Halloween around the corner, I wanted to do a spooky drawing. First of all, it was meant to be a picture for a mental health awareness, but then it turned into this. I am still happy with the outcome though. Playing around with the watercolours (in the background) was really fun! I love how the one on the right came out because the colours blended in together really well. The red hair definitely complements the evil smile and makes her look sinister.
Exploring Further
I wanted to draw my character, Louise, because I haven't drawn her for a while. The outcome has turned out interesting. This is because it looks like she is in a dream land like Alice In wonderland because of the patterns that are surrounding her. This wasn't what I wanted to do but I really like how it turned out. I didn't really know what I wanted to draw, I just didn't think and just went with the flow.
Exploring
I am now doing a separate sketch book to develop the things that I am interested in that are not to do with the work I do in college time. I wanted to do this so that it is easier to find certain pictures and it will be a little bit easier to understand.
The outcome of this picture is good. I like how it came out because I was just experimenting with different coloured inks/ acrylic paint. The thing that I would change if i could would be to make the saddle more obvious instead of it merging into the horse's back. Overall, I am happy with my pattern work development.
Photocopier Negative
I don't really like how this has turned out. To me, it doesn't leave much of an impression.
More Pattern Work
I enjoy drawing animals and working into them using patterns, This is because it is very bold yet simple at the same time, it is up to you how detailed you would like to go. Working out what pattern goes next to what can be difficult because you don't want to over power it so it looks like mush.
Hands
I am finally getting the hand of drawing hands after practicing a lot. Studying hands can tell you a lot about a person's body language and a bit of what they are feeling/thinking at that moment.
Line Art And Mixed Media
I really like how this piece has came out. The materials that I have used are glue, newspaper, ink, glitter and found objects. The chosen objects I have chosen are flowers and a dolphin. This is because on the headphones, it said "change the world". This is meant to be a message to people saying to look after nature and the animals. I have done newspaper in the background to represent people reading about what's on TV and not wanting to know what is happening at the present time.

Mixed Media
I was playing around with material and wanted to see if I can create something new. I wanted to paint the bubble wrap because they remind me of little rain drops. Turning it into a little story board page was really easy.
Coloured With A Watercolour Brush
I found it hard to blend digitally. I still need to practice shades of colours goes next to each other to make them blend good. Other than that, I think my digital art is improving.
Development In Digital Art
Now I wanted to see what this design would be like in digital art. I really like how the line art has turned out because its not over detailed and you can still tell it is Lumina.
Coloured pencils.
I think it is more easier to see her split personality's when she is coloured in. I really like the eye colours that I have chosen because you can tell when the ghost has taken over her body.
Lumina
This is another one of my characters. Lumina has split personality. When she has an extreme mood change, a ghost that haunts her takes over her body and controls her actions and what she says.
Developed - Sharpies
This took a really long time. Layering sharpies is a new experience for me so I had to do some colour thumb nails before to see what colours go well with each other. I like the way the colouring have came because they all blend into each other. Louise is drenched in blood because she is a fallen angel and has fallen from battle.
Louise As An Fallen Angel
This is a metaphor to show how Louise feels inside. Her memories are haunting her and the world around her is crumbling. I like how this has turned out because I think the drawing has really captured the moment.
Roger And Louise
This is Louise after being rescued/ having a make over. Roger is still getting into trouble. These were experimental make-overs, so not 100% sure on this character development.
Negative Effect On Photocopier.
I love the blue in this picture because it looks metallic. This photocopy came out different from what I was expecting but it is really nice.
Pattern Work
I really like this picture because it is really detailed and bold. It is black and colourful at the same time which I think fits really well. The gold paint separates the patterns really well and makes it not look over crowded.
Negative effect on the photocopier.
I like how this has turned out. The outline of the girl is so vibrant and it looks like it has mixture of texture. I don't really like the background because the colour doesn't look right to me.
Practicing Shading, Fabric and Water Colours.
I like how the watercolours battle against the strong shadows and outline of the girl. The poses suggests that she is day dreaming into the distance.
Developing Poses
I am developing on drawing the human body and different poses. This picture is about a ballet dancer with lightning/ fire magic. I like the way it has came out because the pastel background brings out the line art. The only downfall is that the ink was smudging because I sprayed hair spray too close.
Brainwashed Survival: Page 4
Roger cannot believe what is going on in the room. As he tenses his blood stained hands, he realizes that the person that is dying is the person who he have been admiring for the past 10 years. The room smells of death, with no survival.
Brainwashed Survival: Page 2
The alien's plans did not live up to their expectations. They are now going to take a different approach and gather information by ripping out Louis's eye. Her screaming echos through out the spaceship. Stomping noises are traveling throughout the hallways, though it is not coming from an expected visitor. As the limping shadow exploring the ship, he notices a bloody trail that's tailing him from is ax.
Brainwashed Survival: Page 1
This is my comic that I am working on. It is about a twin being taken away at birth but no one remembers anything, except from Louise. The aliens brainwashed Louis's parents to thinking that they only had one child to begin with. Once the aliens have taken Louise away, they experiment on her straight away. This follows on for years. The experiments has changed her eyes into looking to alien eyes, her skin colour into pure white (ghost like) and her hands+feet.
On this page, the aliens are putting Louise to the extreme test yet! They are testing her to her limit to see if their experimentation is worth it after all these years. On the other hand, Louise has reached her limit and have got no hope left in her.
Mixed Media
I wanted to design some fashion ideas/ outfits for my characters. I enjoyed doing this because it was out of my comfort zone but I have learnt a lot.
Original Character: Isabelle
Here, I am experimenting on different clothing ideas and on my drawing tablet. I enjoy trying out different poses and figuring out how I can improve my work.
Original Character: Louise - Development
I am experimenting with wind, fabric and digital art. The outcome of this has turned out okay and i'm slowly improving on my digital skills.
Original Character: Louise - Development
I am experimenting with pastels here. The blending has turned out good because of the different tones and shades.
Practicing Hands
Here, I am just experimenting on different positions on hands. This is so I can look back on this page when I need a reminder. Looking at this, I know I still need to practice drawing hands.
Hands And Fabric
Here, I am practicing drawing fabric and hands. From doing this, I know that I need to practice drawing hands in different positions. The fabric shows clearly where the folds are. Overall, it is ok for my first try.
